Tofacitinib is an oral prescription medication that is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, primarily used to treat chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. It works by suppressing the immune system to reduce inflammation and joint damage. 

Key Uses

Tofacitinib is approved for use in adults and some pediatric patients who have had an inadequate response to or intolerance of other treatments, such as TNF blockers or methotrexate. 

• Rheumatoid Arthritis (moderate to severe active)

• Psoriatic Arthritis (active)

• Ulcerative Colitis (moderate to severe active)

• Ankylosing Spondylitis (active)

• Polyarticular Course Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (pcJIA) in children aged 2 years and older
