Temozolomide capsules are an oral chemotherapy medication primarily used to treat specific types of brain tumors, including glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma. It works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells to slow or stop their growth.

• Uses: Temozolomide (brand name examples: Temodar, Temodal, Glioz) is used as a first-line treatment for newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme in combination with radiation therapy, followed by a maintenance phase of the medication alone. It is also used to treat anaplastic astrocytoma if the tumor returns or worsens after standard treatment.

• Administration: The capsules are swallowed whole with a glass of water, typically on an empty stomach to help reduce nausea and vomiting. They must not be opened, chewed, or crushed, as the powder inside can be harmful if inhaled or touched directly.
