Nintedanib soft gelatin capsules are a prescription medication used to treat specific types of lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and certain types of non-small cell lung cancer. They are sold under brand names such as Ofev and Nindanib.

• Primary Uses:

  • Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF): The medication helps to slow down the scarring and stiffening of lung tissue, which progressively makes it difficult to breathe. It does not reverse existing damage but helps preserve lung function over time.

  • Other Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs): It is also approved for chronic fibrosing ILDs with a progressive phenotype and systemic sclerosis-associated ILD (SSc-ILD).

  • Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): Used in combination with another anticancer medication (docetaxel) for specific types of advanced, metastatic, or recurrent cases after first-line chemotherapy.
