An albendazole tablet is a prescription anthelmintic (anti-worm) medication used to treat various parasitic worm infections in intestines and tissues, like pinworms, roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms, by stopping them from absorbing sugar, causing energy loss and death. It works by inhibiting tubulin polymerization in parasites, treating conditions such as neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease, and must be taken exactly as prescribed, often swallowed whole, to ensure complete parasite elimination
. Common side effects include stomach pain, nausea, headache, and dizziness, but persistent issues or signs of allergy (rash, swelling) require immediate medical attention, and doctors may monitor liver function
.
